The TUC is doing some research, which suggests that 48 thousand construction jobs could be created for 10 years for retrofitting all of the UK’s school buildings. (These are preliminary figures subject to checks). They are looking to make connections between the Education and Construction unions to campaign on this. What we need to do next (ideally in the next two weeks): include voices of school staff who either want their school better insulated, or have already benefited from a retrofit, to talk about why it made / would make a difference to their working life. Even better if they’d be up for having some images taken of the school building, or can provide some before/after imagery.
